What is Chiropractic?
Founded in 1895, Chiropractic is a conservative healthcare profession that focuses primarily on the spine, disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects these disorders have on general health, functionality and mobility. Chiropractors practice a whole-person, patient-centered approach to healthcare that includes complete patient examination, diagnosis and conservative treatment of spine-related disorders and other painful joint issues.
The word "chiropractic" means "to be done by hand", which is exactly how chiropractors treat their patients, by administering a safe, gentle and specific adjustment to the joints of the spine to remove undue stress and pressure and to restore proper function and support to the nervous system. Chiropractic adjustments reduce pain, increase movement and mobility, and improve daily life performance. Things like accidents, injuries, falls, stress (mental, emotional or physical), and overexertion can negatively impact the health of your spine and body. If these issues are left unaddressed, untreated and unresolved, it will negatively affect the way the nervous system functions and communicates with other areas of the body, ultimately causing dis-ease, dysfunction, and susceptibility to chronic conditions.
Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend soft-tissue therapies, fitness coaching, nutritional advice, and lifestyle counseling. Chiropractors collaborate with other healthcare professionals and are trained to refer you to the appropriate specialist, if and when needed. Chiropractors help their patients maintain optimal health naturally while avoiding unnecessary drugs or surgery.
Chiropractic care is a safe and effective way for the elderly to ease pain and tension, build strength and improve balance and flexibility. Maintaining a healthy spine and nervous system through chiropractic care, helps with injury prevention and recovery. This reduces risk, so older adults can regain or maintain an active lifestyle, safely!
Everyone in the family gets to be checked and adjusted here! No age, gender, race, or religion is denied care. Even if you are feeling well and think you could get by without an adjustment, consider this:
Do you have a spine?
Of course you do!
Therefore, a thorough check up will do you good! Remember, it's easier to stay well than it is to get well!
Athletes aim to perform at their best level at all times. Whether you are a competitive athlete or just wanting to stay healthy and in shape, keeping your spine aligned is a key component to maintaining agility, mobility, flexibility, adequate response time, and effective communication between the brain and the body. That's not all! Adjustments help prevent future injury by ensuring no joint or muscle group is unnecessarily overworked or forced to compensate because of a misaligned spine or other joint.
No matter what age, being a kid can be tough! After learning to walk, run, and ride a bike, kids have experienced many slips, falls and tumbles, all of which affect the joints of the spine and how the nervous system functions. Keeping the spine aligned at this age, helps keep the systems of the body functioning at their peak. Keep in mind, the body is still maturing well into the mid-20's, so proper nervous system and musculoskeletal system development remains vital!
Even the tiniest members of the family deserve to be checked and adjusted. After all, their nervous system is still developing, so keeping the pressure off, helps them grow and function as they are expected to. Adjustments for babies are extremely safe, gentle and precise. Sometimes they even sleep through their adjustment!
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
"Laura is an excellent chiropractor. She cares, listens and helps to improve your health and quality of life. Not only does she take care of us but our cat had a spinal problem that the vet said only surgery would fix. Laura adjusted our cat and we could tell he immediately felt better and he was able to lift his tail again. She has helped our whole family and we highly recommend her.
