Consultation, Examination & X-Rays

As a new patient in our office, we want to take the time to get to know you as an individual, understand your concerns, see where you are on your health journey and where you want to go, and to answer any questions you may have prior to starting care.

This is where we will go through a thorough health history, discuss the primary issue that's bringing you in, perform a full examination, and take x-rays (if needed). This process typically provides enough information to determine whether chiropractic is appropriate for your current health concern and how to move forward.

The following visit will consist of your Report of Findings. This is where the results of your examination and x-rays are reviewed with you and the treatment plan that is specific to you, will be discussed. This is another opportunity for us to get to know you better and answer any of your questions before moving forward.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Whether it's your first ever chiropractic adjustment or you've have chiropractic all your life, you will be treated respectfully and adjusted appropriately. We use multiple techniques in our office because we know that not everyone responds the same way to any certain technique. If you have a preferred way you would like to be adjusted, we'll honor your request, as long as we are familiar with the technique.

We will walk you through each step and explain what we are doing, so no surprises! If you have questions or concerns along the way, share them! We want to make sure you are comfortable during the adjustment and know that you are in a safe place with no judgment!

Flexion-Distraction Technique & Therapy

Flexion-Distraction technique is performed on a specially designed chiropractic table that permits the effective administration of the flexion-distraction and spinal decompression adjustment in the mid-low back region.  Flexion-distraction is used for several complex conditions such as  herniated discs, ruptured discs, spinal stenosis, and post-surgical continued pain as well as simpler issues involving excessive muscle tension and poor posture.

Flexion-distraction works by decreasing pressure within the discs of the spine, widening the spinal canal, releasing pressure from the spinal nerves, returning motion to the spinal joints and stretching tight muscles in the low back region.

Massage Instrument & Myofascial Trigger Point Release

Prior to any adjustment, unless otherwise requested, we use the HyperVolt massage instrument over the back and spine to stimulate relaxation and to promote healthy blood flow throughout the spine and surrounding musculature. Benefits of using the HyperVolt include enhanced muscle performance, reduced muscle soreness and stiffness, and improves range of motion and flexibility. Our patients love starting their visits out with this!

Myofascial Trigger Points, or "knots", only form in muscles and are painful even before working on them. They form within the smaller portions of a muscle and in turn pull on tendons and ligaments surrounding the muscle causing local or radiating pain that can appear deeper within nearby joints. We work to release myofascial trigger points as much as possible in our office. Soreness after trigger point work is common, but should subside within a few days.

Intersegmental Traction

Intersegmental Traction helps promote healing in several ways. It helps to reestablish the normal ranges of motion of the spine by initiating mobilization of the spinal column and gently stretching the surrounding muscle and ligaments. This helps to relax the muscle and decrease muscle spasms while also increasing blood flow and oxygen to the discs and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid throughout the skull and spinal column.

Intersegmental Traction ultimately helps in the healing process and recovery times following a back injury. Sessions are typically 10 minutes long. Patients love this table and many notice improved posture following each session.
